Thumbs up

Hey everyone, I'm new to the backpack thing and need some pointers. I'm looking at going to the U.K. and beyond for a bit in summer '06. Reason that far out is because I get out of the Navy then... So any advice would be much appreciated!

well, as of about 15 minutes ago, I decided I might be in the UK for the summer of 06 so if you want a drink, let me know. Hopefully I'll be a bartender and I hear that Navy boys can put 'em back.

by the way, I really like Jag and NCIS.....are they realistic at all?

Well, thank you for the tips! I'm in Sasebo, JA right now for a bit! ..And it's raining. Thanks for all the tidbits. Much obliged. As for JAG and NCIS, great for a laugh! And yes, I've been known to put a few Jack n Cokes away!

McDonald's... funny. It's a company out of Edinburgh that offers tours of Scotland and they are specifically geared to packers. So if anyone has dealt with them... I'd appreciate the heads up!

welcome to the boards! I would suggest doing your own thing and not a tour. Its 10 times more liberating to be "on your own" i think. Either way though, it will be an awesome experience.

scary but exhilarating!

congratulations on joining this community im sure that we as a team of backpackers can help you with some questions that you may have.
As for Scotland, excellent choice as it is really pretty, has some slamming nightlife but avoid the hagis!

Where's the fun in that?! Not too worried about going, just trying to get some ideas. Are there any good pubs in Inverness or Pitlochry?
