Id like to say hi and tell you guys have an awesome forum here. Well my buddies and I are going to be backpacking europe for 3 weeks in May. We are leaving to Amsterdam May 11th and returning home from Barcelona June 1st. I have a few questions. First off i was thinking about buying a Eurail 2nd class youth pass for 21 days. I was wondering if thats the best deal. The cities ( for now) that we will be traveling to are Amsterdam, Brugg, Paris, Bern, Interlakken, Venice, Rome, Nice, and Barcelona. Also are hostels are best to stay in. Im planning on bringing about $1500 for the trip. Any opinions and tips on where to stay would be appreciated. Also if any of you will be in the area it would be cool to meet up.

I don`t really know about eurail passes or hostels in those places right now but is your $1500 going to pay for hostels too? I would expect to pay an average of 20 euro a night, so estimate 450 euro for 3 weeks in hostels, which would leave you a little over $1000 left....that could easily cover you for 3 weeks but prob. not if you are planning on drinking.

Welcome to the forum!

I would say yes to the hostels and say check the price of flights before buying the Eurail pass. It may very well be the way to go, but check flights first as there might be deals.

and here for hostels

welcome
