Default Lone Female in Thailand

I am travelling alone in Thailand, currently in Phuket. I found a great guest house to stay at in Phuket, very safe, anyone have any suggestions for Bangkok and Chang Mai ?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you looking for a place to stay? The last time I was in Thailand was over 3 years ago so my memory is a bit hazy as far as specific places. Def go up to Chiang Mai. Take a trek tour and they will take you to the villages up in the hills--one of the clearest night skies I have EVER seen. Go to any travel agency and they can book a trek for you; it's also a good way to meet other travelers. CM is worth spending at least a week in. And it'll be nice to get out of the steamy Bangkok weather.

As for Bangkok--it's not my favorate place in the world. But def check out the Chatachuck market, the floating market, the Imp palace, patpong night markets. I stayed in China town in Bangkok it's a good location and they have super cheap hotels. We splurged and stayed in hotels vs. hostels in Bangkok because I needed the AC and I also needed to wash my clothes in a proper bathtub/sink , but there are a lot of very trendy hostels on Koh San Road. You'll meet LOTS of other travelers there. I wouldnt stay more than a week in Bangkok. It's congested, polluted, and hot as hell.

Hope this helps.

In Bangkok, I stayed at a guest house just off of Kho San Road. It was pretty nice for what I paid. I'll try and dig up the name but there are loads of guest houses in the area that are probably comparable.

I recommend spending more time down south near Phuket since you are already down there. The islands around that area are so beautiful and so much fun. Personally I didn't really Bangkok and couldn't get on a bus out of there quick enough.

But do go to Chang Mai. I wasn't able to make it but heard fantastic things about the city and the cooking classes up there!

Actually this thread is also very helpful to me as well because I'd like to see Thailand before i move to England and will be there as a solo female as well.
