Best bet is call the number on the statement you get with your frequent flyer points. If there is no number, just call AA and I'm sure after pressing enough buttons on your touch tone phone you'll eventually get through to someone who can help you.
One bit of advice: Lots of airlines have codeshares with other ones. It will be the other airline's plane and flight, but they tack on their flight number on top of it. Those types of flights are normally eligible to use with your points. As a matter of fact, sometimes airlines form partnerships SOLELY for the reason of giving their frequent flyers more destinations. Kind of bragging rights. Check out www.oag.com
