Thanks all! I had a pretty cool B-day. I was in San Fran for a conference (Oracle OpenWorld...what a fuckin zoo, BTW). Yesterday, (my B-day) was also customer appreciation night. They brought in the Counting Crows!! I love them. They played for about an hour and a half and kicked ass. I was right up front. (Also provided was free beer, tons of free food...all outside right on the bay with the Bay Bridge in the background...special fireworks from China, blah, blah, blah. Good times were had. Flew back today.
P.S. Omi - I wanted to look you up, but the schedule was just so tight with events all day and night I just didn't have an opportunity and I couldn't take anytime off right now aside from the conference. However, I do like your city a lot and hope to get back out there for some free time someday.

No worries, LFoD - I've been buried working our company's own SF conference for next month. Oddly enough, I know of a lot of people who were at Oracle OpenWorld since we just announced a partnership with them... 35,000 attendees - CRAZY.
The fireworks would explain the insane series of explosions we heard the other night. People on the street were a bit freaked out, crackheads in the tenderloin were screaming "It's Al Kway-duh!" and there was this eeriness in the air around downtown... they sure didn't sound like regular fireworks being launched! I could've sworn it was a sustained shelling.
Lemme know in advance next time you're in SF (this applies for anyone) and we'll have ourselves a Yabba Dabba Doo time.

I will tell you...they had two fireworks shows. The first was a good, but it was just your standard everyday fireworks show. Then, they announce that this special fireworks company from Liao Xiang (I am really butchering the name and kind of making it up) province in China was going to put on their very first show ever held in the U.S. Let me tell you...I am not usually into fireworks at all - they all seem the same....but this show was fantastic. It was choreographed to music and the used all sorts of firework types I have never seen. They had these huge rockets that went up so slowly that it seemed the were in slow motion...they looked like these giant flaming mushrooms going up. It was pretty cool.
I did enjoy San francisco - I am jealous Omi. (Of course, I realize things always seem better to visitors....grass is always greener.......blah, blah, blah).
