Red face

'Lo everyone!

I'm from South Africa.

(thats about it as far as my intro goes...)

So...ja. I'm planning my trip - my first.
(I'm such a backpacking virgin that the futhest i've been away was just across the boarder at Namibia.)

Despite my lack of DISTANCED travel, I consider myself up for three month abroad. Ja. In the snow, away from my warm&sunny home. Motoring mybackpackedself across Europe, in the snow. I'm going EURO in winter (dec-jan-feb nly avalib. time) IN THE SNOW!

It doesnt snow here but it can get DAMN cold and cos no one really bothers with indoor heating (annually repeated mistake), you basically sit in three month of FREEZING COLD (3 degrees C) and wait for the friggin' sun to come out, not that it helps...Riggghhht, so thats endurance at least?

How cold is EUROcold, actually?

My dads a seasoned traveller, right, and he scared me A LOT when i asked him. He go sick from going out inthe cold and back in the heated flat continuously. I should get my travel insurance done...

I'm quite chuffed with myself for finding this site,ja...hehehehe
I think one time when i was lurking (before i joined) i got lost. It's that good, really.

Am i the only South African, btw?

welcome to the boards my babber! ya it does get cold over in euro in the winter months but i always think its the best way to travel less people and it looks really pretty with all the snow! I will be travelling around eastern europe from sept - jan and if we are in the same place it would be great to meet up with another tpunker!

AAAHHH!!!THANK YOU!!
I thought i'd accidentally locked my post or something...
Thanx for the welcome,ja?
Don'tknow about the rugby-didnt watch (it sorto pissed my dad offwhen he called from his trip for the rugby & i was like "Ja the rugby...so, did we win?" - he called my unclejust for the score) We have Interschools in about a week, then its really crazy in here the Boland, two top rugby schools strut it out in the rain - really hard to miss. Actually the best time of the year to visit - evryone 'kuiers'(visits...cou-[drinks]-gh... themselves into a state, good times.
I sorted my trip so many ways already, but i reckon i'll start in UK (got family to loaf off), IRE-SCOT-ENG then cross to FRANCE, then ITALY, trek through SWITZ to GERMANY and finally... NETHERLANDS - i speak Afrikaans so im REALLY looking forward to the last stop!
I really want to try skiing - thought about first practicing here in SA - Tifindells in the Drakensberg is unbelievable - already scheming a trip...
OOOOHHH!I might be bumming a ride with my dad to NY in June'06....everythings sorto planned out ages ahead in our fam.
Gives you something to live towards,ja?
Thanks again for the welcome

Uhh...i'm a girl.

but if i did play i'd be that guy who lifts the other one up &stuff- it always looks like they get a moerse wedgie when theyre done....
Seriously tho - did everyone think i was a guy?!!
I think i should start writing in pink - no y'kow why its cos my little pic-thing under my name isn't there yet - sorto ambiguous.
I just have my own personal idea of rugby, no offence but its the perfect excuse for a bunch of guys to touch one another for an hour and call it sportsmanship.
The only time i'll actually watch is when we play the Kiwis....damn beautiful people they have!
