Question not so new, but haven't been on TP in a very long time!

I've taken an enormous leave of absence from TP. been wrapped up in current life issues, trying to get where i want to go/be... and that's where TP comes back into play in my life.

I have always been a backpacking fanatic and it's in my blood, any time I settle somewhere to long or i'm not able to pick up and go as I want it drives me insane. ...and yes, this is the beginning of a new journey! The road becomes my bride again in this upcoming trip around the world, and yes i mean that literally! AROUND THE ENTIRE WORLD!

I'm planning on hitting just "about" every country I can get myself into, exploring the un-beaten paths, and having the experience of a life time. The kind of experiences they make movies about!

I'm looking to put together a team of 3-4 people (including myself) for this great adventure. Training will begin for this trip next summer when i will be returning to the states (I've been in Europe for the past 3 years.)

*People interested in joining my team do not have to be extremely experienced but should have the will to learn and grow as a person with the team we put together. I need very strong willed people, people willing to push through situations no matter the odds and stay positive enough to get though anything. Team members will be trained in sea & white water kayaking, I've taken an enormous leave of absence from TP. been wrapped up in current life issues, trying to get where i want to go/be... and that's where TP comes back into play in my life.

I need very strong willed people, people willing to push through situations no matter the odds and stay positive enough to get though anything. Team members will be trained in and practice the following with our team; sea & white water kayaking, climbing/repelling, field Medical, field navigation (gps/maps/land nav), survival, and the gear that we will be using.

About me? take a great navigator, an excellent field chef, and an adventurous spirit looking for great experinces and mix that together with and person hungry for new places and cultures and you pretty much have me "Cyrus Blades"... I backpacked for about 2-3 years after graduating from HS before finally settling down a bit. But that bug is in me again and i'm heading back to the only place I've ever felt at home, "on the road!"

I have NO set direction of travel yet, just some "ideas"... as i didn't want to plan an entire trip of this magnitude with out my team involved in the decisions, but to make it very clear!!! There will be NOTHING set in stone and we're not going to be following any route that will be carved out! We will build an idea guide together, but that could go out the window at anytime. That is because a trip this large and long can not be built this way. there will be places we will side track too, there will be places we hear or learn about and that will change all kinds of aspects of our journey together. ...and then there are places that me might decide to not explore or adventure to for various reasons. People just need to be flexible and relaxed attitude, no uptight clock watchers!!!

A starting idea i've been looking at for now is to start with the great American trails first. Start in Maine, Appalachian Trail south and then follow on into FL and then some island hopping to eventually end up in south Mexico or TX, Take The Great Divide North and then The Pacific Crest South. Maybe South America after that, it's all up in the air! We could always start off somewhere further away... Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia. I want to hit them all!

I've got a incredible amount of gear and have a good knowledge of what's good, what's better and what's best. I have good ideas on how to use things, pack things and ways to make life easier on my whole team.

NEVER STOP EXPLORING! Will you take this adventure with me?

later - Cyrus Blades
