Default On the road again

The tumblezweedz family circus is movin' on again, with one additional player.

We leave Germany in mid-June, bound for DC, for about a year, and then a couple of years in Russia. The baby arrived 9 days late, and we only just got out of the hospital in time to apply for her passport 18 hours before the deadline. Hopefully all will go well and we'll get it in time.

We'll be in transit and off-line for the next several weeks, so happy travels this summer, all!

Some of your children will for the first time live in their mother tongue, days in days out ! And later, learn their what 5th 6th language. Hope they work in international relations once adults.

Thanks guys, we all made it safe and sound...and together! to DC. Picked up three passports (and a birth certificate) at the consulate on Thursday morning, and caught a flight the next day. Nothing like the last minute.

The baby's an awesome traveller, slept for 6 1/2 of the 8 hour flight. The rest of the crew did well too, and we're about over jet lag and enjoying our new home. Off to the Goethe Institut to watch Germany v. Portugal this afternoon.

Next week hubby and kids drive to WI to visit family, baby and I head to Vancouver for family intros there. She'll hit three countries in her first month, beating all previous records in our family.

And yes, Esther, our five year old is getting her first introduction to her homeland - she's only spent 10 weeks of her life in the land of her birth. And three of the kids will attend english schools for the first time. Fortunately the school offers Spanish classes, so they can add a 6th, 5th, 5th and 2nd language to their experiences. And then in Moscow they get Russian and French so a nice well-rounded selection altogether.

It's good to be back in the land of cheap gas (seriously!), especially as we can now walk most everywhere.
