Howdy folks :)
So, I've been lurking here for quite some time now and thought I'd finally say hello. Here goes:
My name is Neha (pronounced nay-ha). I've lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex the last 9 & 1/2 years so I guess that kinda sorta makes me a Texan but I refuse to believe it, haha. I was born in Connecticut so I still consider myself an East coast girl.
I don't remember how I stumbled across this website but I'm immensely grateful that I did! It's nice to know I'm not a freak for being such a travel addict since most everyone in my life thinks there's something wrong with me. I've seen most of the U.S. (46/50 states) and haven't seen much outside the U.S. (Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, France, U.A.E. and India).
I'm headed to India on Feb. 1st with my mom for three weeks and I can't wait! I haven't been in 5 & 1/2 years so it'll be great to see all my family again (my parents are both originally from India and every single grandparent/aunt/uncle/cousin lives there). I haven't seen a lot of India outside of New Delhi so I'm researching little side trips that I could make.
Other than that, my main reason for posting is I'm planning a 2 & 1/2 month solo trip of Europe from April-June of this year. This is something I've wanted since I was 16 and I finally feel like this is my time to do it. I have the money saved up, have nothing holding me back (single, no kids, etc) and I'm 24 and feel like it's time to take a risk and see what happens. I recently moved back in with my parents and will be quitting my job that I'm not exactly fond of. I'm terrified and excited at the same time. I've gotten a lot of good information being on here and hopefully I can pick everyone's brains a little more.
So yea, sorry, I tend to get a bit wordy. Thanks for all the help everyone's been so far! Congrats if you managed to make it to the end!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I have a rough itinerary right now that includes a lot of countries. I might be trying to tackle too much for my first time around but I'll try to post the rough draft soon and see what everyone thinks!

As a fellow newbie i understand completely how good it is to have t-punk!! I've been pottering about here for months without saying much... I'm realtively new to the whole messageboard / forum thing so i'm just gonna start by Welcoming you and saying that if u need any tips for places to go in europe gimme a shout! I'm from Dublin, Ireland and have been around europe a wee bit so know a few good spots :D
enjoy the planning, and do lots of it, it's so good to arrive somewhere you've never been before and have an idea of where you are and how to get to where you need to go... especially if you're going it alone!!

Welcome and good luck. April is the perfect time to leave. Airfare is still relatively cheap, and things are starting to get warmer.
Cheers!
