Berlin
After almost 4 years (too long) I am happy to announce that I am returning to Berlin in Sept for 1 week. I am so looking forward to this and have even now started making a list of what I want to do and see. People who know me know how much I love Berlin so I cannot wait.

Wow, Berlin!!!
I'm so intrigued by this city!! It's also on my "to do" list, sometime down the road. I bet it must be so fantastic to get to return to some place you loooove! I hope you have a great time there, Ben!!

That's great, man. Berlin is my must-see for any future travels in Europe. I stayed in Munich and didn't make it out there, but everyone I talk to says it's incredible (including a girl from Berlin who I wanted to marry within 30 minutes of meeting).

I am thinking of maybe spending a day in the south, like Munich or somewhere.

How much did you see of Germany while you were there? All/most? I looked too Turkish to appreciate the South as much as I did the North. I am SO jealous!!

I've only really seen Berlin and Erfurt so I thought a trip to the south would be fun.

You will LOVE Muenchen then!! It's stereotypical German. If you look at the Stammtisch at the Hofbrauhaus (cliche but you have to go...) there will actually be old men in lederhosen there!!! It's surreal. They're also pissy in the south, obviously much more conservative. Skip Neuschwanstein if you have a limited schedule - just take pics from the outside. It's not as cool as Linderhof. The Frauenkirche is awesome, I thought (especially the devil's footprint inside). But I was about 2 centimeters off of my touristy "grope the Kirche" pic. And it took HOURS. Well, not hours, but for some reason my friend decided to take it exactly when the Glockenspiel was going off!! And there was a group of people facing me with their backs to the Glockenspiel just watching me pose for my friend... There's a bunch of other interesting stuff to do in a day there... I'm eager to read your report on it!

So I figure I gotta see this GDR museum that was built in 2002 because it seems really interesting. I am also going to walk down Unter den Linden strasse and write my findings and impressions (I am always the writer). But I think what I am looking forward to the most is taking a day to just loose myself in the great European city that is Berlin.

OK, this was not the trip I had planned...but I think its better. Basically instead of staying in 1 city I am going to arrive in Berlin and buy a week rail pass and just ride the rails, going to different places talking to different people and really exploring Germany.
EDIT-I have just booked my rail pass online so I am TOTALLY doing this. I can't wait I'll ride the rails and be free!!!
