Hey everyone!
I'm Janan from London (Canada, not England!) haha. I'm 21 and have done a fair bit of travelling so far, but not nearly enough! This past summer I did the whole solo female backpacker in southeast Asia bit which was AWESOME. Pretty much fell in love with the place and am planning on going back next summer. Right now I'm doing my third year of uni and am trying not to spend too much time dreaming about my next trip... but now that I've found these boards I'm sure I will. haha
I'm also thinking of doing my last year of university at National University in Singapore next year so I'll probably be looking for info on that...
Anyways, anyone who's going to southeast Asia, message me! Hell, anyone who feels the need, go ahead and message me. None of my friends are interested in travelling right now so I have to get my travel buzz on the net these days!
See you around!

Welcome Aboard!
I find it hard to focus on study when there is travel to think about as well.

Welcome to tpunk!
I'm glad to hear you loved SEA...I'm from Malaysia and will be backpacking Vietnam and Cambodia this December/Jan. I'm a big advocate of the study + travel deal (I'm in China on a semester abroad), so I hope things work out with NUS for you!
Enjoy yourself here, and happy planning for your future trips!

Welcome Dylan. Don't be afraid to strike out on your own. Tons of other people around here will also help provide some encouragement. Traveling solo often times is better than with friends because it forces you to meet more of your fellow travelers. You will find plenty of other solo travelers out an about. Good luck!

Welcome to both of you, jananaginz and dylanmickleck from London, ON!
Jana : if you have time, will you share some of your tips in the Asia Forum, hostel recommendations in Asia, hostel penalty box in Asia ? And we'd love to read your travel stories !
Dylan : Travelling solo is in fact the way to go for a good number of tpunks (maybe the majority...), so you'll find plenty of infos on the subject in the traveling alone forum, and people to support you in this project, if you did end up choosing that option.

Hey! Ahh London, Canada. I went there to visit a friend from online a while back. He lived in Woodstock and I got to experience the wonderful London airport! My bags were of course in England. Can't wait to hear your travel experiences, and I can't wait to be able to tell some of mine (when I have them of course hehe)!

def. don't be discouraged by solo travelling. if none of your friends wanna go with you, just pack a bag and go yourself. it's extremely liberating. i really didn't realize how easy and commonplace it was until i found these boards. so i took a 4 month trip through europe. I had never lived on my own. I had never been out of canada, well, i crossed the border into north dakota once. I had NEVER USED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. and a couple hours after landing i had been through heathrow airport, rode the tube and was sitting in a pub chatting with my first of many aussie friends from the trip whom i still talk to. I am now planning a trip down under where i will be able to visit all these great friends i met and travelled with because i was alone. i'm not saying that sometimes it woulda been nice to have a mate with me. of course, it woulda been great. but the trip def. woulda been different and i think i would be too.
anyways, i guess i'm ranting, but the point of the story is don't let the fact that nobody else wants to go stop you from going yourself.
