might be a long one, so much to say ask and do.
hello u crazy lot. (people like me at last)
ok iv been readin the boards and iv noticed that everybody saves before they go on these wild trips, has anybody just jumped on a plane with say £50, clothes etc and thought fuck it lets see what happens.
im based in england (gillingham), not far from london and have moved about so much that iv never settled. i have worked in bars, clubs, fast food, driven a JCB (and have the revelent licences but not a normal car licence, lol), and i have about 2 years experince in sales and theres not a lot i cant do with a computer. all that and im only 24.
i was thinking of just going for long weekends away say from thursday - sunday. flights are pretty cheap. or just selling eveything and going. i Need to get away because i hate gillingham, lol.
my first stop would be amsterdam, for the woman and beer. my girlfriend says i have to share any woman i meet
what do you think?

I know what you mean geez. I'm from southend and im utterly sick of the place. I say go for it with your fifty nicker. If you can busk then that might help, or if youve got credit cards you can max.......whatever you do have a damn good laugh, and tell me if it works out, cause if it does i'm doing the same thing#!

There's a lot of construction work going on in Spain and Portugal, especially along the coast but there is a big building boom all over the two countrys the JCB licence might come in handy down there.
I think you should have a few hundred saved just to be on the safe side, I've seen a few ex pats scattered around Europe begging for money you wouldn't want to end up stuck.

Anything is possible, heading out with little cash and traveling around is possible, especially if you can find a job when you land, but otherwise you may just end up getting stuck.
Welcome!

Welcome! I don't think there's any places you should definitely avoid, except say, Baghdad and even that's up for dispute. I'd say start with a few small trips, especially since it'll be super cheap for you, get a feel for it "out there" and see if maybe one of those trips you just don't go back.

Gillingham, eh? One of my friends supports Gillingham FC for some unknown reason.
Anyway, I agree with Jamie, try some small trips to start with, and get a feel for it - you might find somewhere you want to settle for a while!

I went to the Uk for six months with a few bags and a little under $300 in my pocket. I like that way of traveling. It forces you to rely completely on yourself. Good times.
Welcome to the boards!

I'm one of the people who saved to cover my expenses and the least I would go out with is enough to get me back home! Welcome to the boards and hope we can help you along the way!!

You have the distinct advantage that you can work legally in the EU, which really opens up your options. 50 quid isn't going to last long in western Europe, but if you head further east, it'll go a little farther, though you may have more difficulty finding a job, unless you fall back on the teaching English option. I know several people who've done this without a TEFL type background, just don't expect high wages in eastern Europe!

Change your address several times and student loans will have a nightmare tracking you. tell the last person you lived with to tell them that you are a heroin addict living on the streets.....
and good luck with your son.....just dont dress up as spiderman and climb on buck palace or anything crazy like that. easy now!
and if you are a graduate you will have no worries teaching english in eastern europe without a tefl

WELCOME! sounds like fun...always wanted to do something as spontaneous as that, but I guess I still have a good chunk of my life to do so...
Goodluck!
