DreamerVid POsted this in another thread, but I wanted to make sure it was seen by folks here aswell!!

India - well I dont know what to say really, since it is really home. I'm from Bangalore in the south, it's very different from anywhere else I've ever visited within India. If you're going all the way out to India, one thing I'd say is, dont do the whole thing as a foreign tourist, but more like the Indian tourists there, that's if ur interested in seein the real culture. I've been to Taj Mahal, Red Fort, somethin to do with Tipu Sultan but I can't remember what...maybe a palace (I was young), and he Golden Palace (that was soooo beautiful). I went up to Ooty, and went to Kodekanal.....knayekumari and vivekananda rock. I went to see the place where the 1st temple was made...you could see the plans carved into the rocks, the place was never finished. That was pretty cool. I dont know what to say about anywhere, I'm pretty bad at this. I can give out little bits of advice I guess......dont eat any ice or anythin cold over there if u can help it, I wouldn't use their bottled water because they just recycle their bottles off the street a lot of the time, be wary of what u eat if it's not in a 5star hotel (unless ur at ppl's houses)....cos it's easy to get sick, dont eat samosa's (I learnt the hard way...I have never been in such pain ever, or since....I just wanted it to stop, it was so bad, I wouldn't have cared how it stopped)....try not to get ripped off by ppl cos they will charge u more knowing ur foreign (but then the difference in prices will prob be insignificant to u). Haggling is expected there....there prices are pre-inflated for that reason....umm what else? Make sure anythin u eat outside, u've seen beeing heated up. Oh, when we lived in saudi, some ppl were very nice to us...and mum said if they ever needed a favour, etc....well they asked if they could see the real India, and so stay with my relatives in India....and they loved that. I guess that's a long way of sayin, if u know anyone to stay with...it's a great way to see traditional family life...it's so unlike anywhere else. And try see an India weddin cos they are pretty amazing. ps u have got to go see the sun rise in kanyakumari, i'll never forget that.
