buy now?
Question - should I buy the tix to London for me and my sister's trip now? I've got them clocked in at $704 with Air India, out of O'Hare. We're going the first week of September. So, I know it's really early
I ask because I bought my tix to Germany a month ago for my trip in June... I got them for $750 I believe and I just checked today and the tix shot up to over $1200.... in like a span of 3 weeks.
I've got enough money to buy them now, but if I wait and the tix go up much more, my mom isn't going to be able to afford to pay for my sister's ticket, and then we can't go.
I'm sure I have a few days but I think come the New Year the prices may go up...
Thanks!
Nicole

Hey Nicole, I see the Air India fares out of New York during that timeframe are 578. If you are buying a ticket from Columbus to Chicago that might be comparable to Columbus to New York.

we were planning on driving to Chicago and staying with fam the night before (only a 6 hour drive) but I didn't think to check JFK or something like that, good call.

no roundtrip tix to JFK are like 200 bucks from C-bus, which is more than how much it would be to go from O'Hare.

looks like the cheapest way to do it is to fly into dublin for $666, then ryanair it to london... this may save overall too, if we spend some time in dublin and some time in london, less time in london = less money we spend lol...
ahh don't know what I want to do.....

That seems kind of expensive in general to get to London from Chicago. It is so far out there are not likely to be bargains yet. I can't tell you for sure but my experience has always been that usually a couple of months out is when you can find deals. I have found when you look for tickets too far in advance they are fairly pricey. Good luck, its always a tough call.

yeah I think it's expensive too. I think I am going to press my luck and just keep checking. if it winds up that it only goes up from there, then we'll go somewhere else or suck it up. I'm such a bargain whore that I would really be pissed if I bought the ones for $704 then looked again in April or May and they were like 450 or something/
thanks though.

$450 might be a dream but i would hold out for cheaper tickets. Thats just me though. And i dont know how it works if you skip out on your last part of that OHR-LHR-DUB ticket. I've thought about doing that before myself. I would love to hear if you find out more about that.
**Sidenote - Just realized this is my 500th post. Damn. I remember joining before I went to Ireland in 2005, so full of questions. Well that part hasn't really changed but i have met a number of cool people who also fantasize about faraway places all day. I wonder how long it will take to get to 1,000....

Less than the time between now and April 2005.
And 450 isn't totally a dream but during the month of September it may be. I noticed Newark to Barcelona/Madrid on Continental tends to be a cheap run for some reason.

What are the dates you'll be traveling? If you can give me an approximate range of when you'd like to depart and return, I can see what I can find for you. The figure of $704 all-in for a roundtrip flight to London from Chicago in September is likely to go lower.

we were looking at sept 8th-15th... just 7 days, but are slightly flexible with days (3 days before/after), as long as we leave after the 1st and we are back by the 20th...
thanks!
