Okay, am in usa with my boyfriend so have been very clever in washing the pasports with the clothes, You can see the details on teh pages with our photos but needless to say their fucked.

Who do we contact about this, how do we get around it, how much will it cost, how will it take.

We are travellign usa, and have to show the passports as form as ID when buying a train ticket as we have a 30 day rail pass.

We leave the hotel we are in tommorrow AM.

Would appreciate help or assistance i anyway shape or form asap.

thank you

Contact your country's nearest embassy or consulate. Do a google search, see what their hours are, bring in your poor washing-machine-violated passports and throw yourselves upon their mercy. They will be able to help you. If there isn't an embassy nearby, give them a ring to find out what you should do. Most likely you'll have to show up in person. Good luck!

Try searching "British Consulates" instead of embassies. I think there's only one embassy, in DC, but there may be consular offices in other cities. I know there's one in Vancouver, Canada (just three short hours and a tricky border crossing) from Seattle, don't know if there's one in Seattle itself. Anyway, if you can't find one in Seattle, call the one in Vancouver. It'll be a number starting with area code (604). Even if they can't do much from there, they can give you advice on where to go.

You'll probably have to get expedited replacement passports, which I'm guessing will be pricey, and you may have to hang out in Seattle a little longer than planned, but there are worse places to spend September days.

If all else fails, find the nearest British Airways office and explain your dilemma to them, they've probably encountered a similar problem before and may know how to solve it.

Good luck!

Head down there ASAP. That's right downtown at 2nd and Marion or Madison I believe. Should be easy to find.

I'm in Seattle, as are kingcrazylegs, scarlotte dorian and the monsignor. When are you leaving, maybe we can meet up?

I believe the Seattle office is just a trade organization/liaison. Still worth a try!

Here's a map of areas served by British consulates.
