hospital and rent reimbursement in France
Hi everyone and anyone..
I am running out of options and I could really use some advice...
I went to the hospital for an emergency in France in Dec/09 and paid $400 CAD in fees, was on a study abroad year, am now back in Canada. The hospital never gave me documentation on what was performed, so I cant apply to get reimbursed by my provincial health insurance.
I have talked to several people trying to get the documentation, 4 people at the hospital (French admin is a nightmare), the cdn consulate in France (who told me I was a worthless piece of garbage), my school here, who states they are only responsible for academics and could care less about my finances, and my local member of parliament, who says its too late (but I have up to one year to make a claim and they are just lazy and useless).
I have also never had my French caution/deposit money for my one apartment returned to me, which is about $1500 CAD, and I moved out in December/09 a week or so after going to the hospital, same situation, no one will help me get the money back.
Sorry for writing so much...any comments are appreciated....just not that I am worthless and that you dont care...I have heard that enough already hahaha! Thanks.

Sounds like a sucky situation...
In regards to the hospital situation...they must have the relevant documents in a file somewhere. Where are they and why won't they give them to you?
In regards to your deposit. Did you sign some sort of lease or contract? If so, what does it say in regards to return of deposit?

The Canadian Consulat is a complete waste of space in my opinion and dealings with both their British and Chinese counterparts. I think its just a case of keep putting pressure on the admin staff. Do you have any friends left in France? Maybe a Frenc address might speed things up.
I remember I needed a P45 (British tax form) from an old job and when they would give it to me after stalling I got the tax office to send them a letter requesting it and surprisingly it was sent the next day-is there anyone ike an insurance company who could send such a letter? Its one of these things, if they think they will be in a lot of trouble otherwise, I bet they will send it.

Thanks for the replies...yeah I've been trying to keep contacting admin....it's hard because I am not fully bilingual, French admin ignores emails and it is very difficult talking to anyone on the phone or finding the right numbers (If your accent is different they will say they dont understand and/or hang up lol).
I did sign a lease but it doesnt really seem to matter...I can't afford a lawyer or anything. I have a couple friends there but they are on exchange and trying to learn french so I dont want to drag them into this.
