Default Brussels or Frankfurt?

So, Ryanair have a pretty good deal on at the moment and I can fly to either Brussels or Frankfurt for a grand total of £1.42 return including all taxes and other fees. This is too good a deal to pass up so I'm going to have a couple of days away, the question is, which city do I go to? I'd like somewhere I can go out drinking relatively cheaply and easily meet other travellers. It'd probably be a thursday til saturday in November, but the ticket needs to be purchased before midnight tonight.

Frankfurt is one of the most expensive cities ever. Haven't been to Belgium, so I can't attest to the other, but I might not go to Frankfurt if I had the choice.

That is such an amazing deal, it almost makes flying Ryanair seem an attractive option!

If I had the time off from uni, I would totally go to Brussels for a couple of days.

I would fly to Brussels, jump a 30 min train to Brugge, and let the Belgian beers flow! I have a on Brugge.

I too would go to Brussels. Despite the fact that I was in Frankfurt a few times but only to transit from the airport to the inner Germany, I don't believe there is much to do there. Plus, it's probably one of the ugliest city in the country, which is unfair to Germany. Unless you take the train for Köln, or another destination from Frankfurt.

Brussels on the other hand is way more attactive !

My exact thought. Brussels has quite a few breweries also (the main square has a bar serving something like 500 beers?)

If you choose the Belgium route, you are near Antwerp, Oostende, Ghent among others. If you choose Frankfurt, Rothenberg odt, Koln, among others are an easy ride away.

I don't think you can go wrong but if it were me, I would pick Belgium...I mean great chocolate, great beer, and mannekin pis what more do you want?

Btw that airfare is ridiculous, I have seen comparable fares but those were always before taxes...

Don't go to Frankfurt, it is a real unfriendly city and there is not really alot of great drinking or clubs bars just alot of prostitutes near the train station, I would pick Brussels

Yeah like someone said, the "frankfurt" airport ryanair fly to is nowhere near frankfurt. but it is really close to the moselle region which is really beautiful, lots of really nice friendly little villages all along the river and plenty of cheap places to stay. and cheap wine. There probably wont be much happening there though, and youre chances of meeting anyone is probably zero... but its a nice place if you wanna relax for a few days.

or get the train to a different city. like everyone has said, theres really nothing worth going to frankfurt for. go to one of the other cities like trier, koblenz, bonn or here in cologne, much prettier and much more to do.

Joey, I too made the same mistake and went to the brussels airport instead of charloria (sp). It seems that ryanair flies close to a lot of cities, just to the small airports way outside of the towns. But hey, they have great prices.

Brussels is a neat feeling city, but I have never been to frankfurt to make a comparison.
