Backpacker gone missing in Syria
Found this on digg.com a few minutes ago...
Apparently this guy's sister hasn't been heard from since March 29th. I know thats not that long for some of you travellers, but i guess from this guy's standpoint its weird because she used to check in every 14 days and now no one can locate her. Thought i'd post for everyone hear to see http://vienneau.livejournal.com/39588.html |
Crazy. Sounds like she is a pretty competent chica though. I'd imagine she'd be alirght... unless she got sick or something. That's something no one on there thought of.

Holy crap... I hope she is okay.
Did you read the part about 'how travellers are reported missing relatively frequently'? .... |

But seriously...it does frighten me that anything can happen, but even my roommate and I don't cross paths for a couple days. And I live in a city with more death than *Baghdad* (Eff, I love our Congressmen!). So, you know, shit happens. And if that alleged shit occurs on a holiday, more the better. I hope this girl is ok though! Don't mean to sound callous...I really do hope everyone is ok all the time, it's just that I admire someone who can take risks adventuring as opposed to dying on the toilet in your apartment reading the TV Guide or something. |
DC has more death than Baghdad?? Those statistics have got to be wrong....
|
wow, this really sucks!
|
We don't have any way of helping do we? I mean, do we have anyone out there right now? Roughly?
|
thats really scary :(
|
I think I'm still on the yahoo "Go To Syria" list which is read by a lot of tourism industry insiders in Syria. I'll post on that and see if we can get more folks working on it. Hope she turns up fine soon...
