i think i can get one more night here if worse comes to worse but still, dont wanna end up paying for a shitty hostel

Tarragona is really chill, and it's a university town, so there's a few things to do here and there, although it is summer holiday right now. Go check out the old Roman gladiatorial coloseum/amphihtheatre thingy, walk along their (much less crazy) Ramblas, have little kids mix you cocktails on the beach... good fun.

I have to second that - Tarragona is probably my favorite city in the world. Hostels/hotels aren't too cheap, but you can find a cheap campsite at Camping Tarracco (find the tourist booth and they'll direct you. You can pick up a cheap bivy tent from a Carrefour which is only a busride away). We were there in late July last year and there are not many tourists at all. Great time.

There is a hostel in Barca that books based upon when you get there... Like you show up at 10 am and get put on a list for a room. We got in in the afternoon and got beds. I'm pretty sure it was Hostel Kabul. It's right off Ramblas in a courtyard. Again, we were there around late July last year and had no problems showing up and getting a room.

I would reccomend the north of Spain. I spent a month in Vitoria in the Basque country and thought it was beutiful.
