Under 18- Successful Booking Hotels?
Ah, I just thought of another dumb question, which may have already been answered once again.. I'm a shameful researcher, aren't I? But have any under-18s been successful in getting a hotel room on their first night in their destination? I wouldn't be worried about finding a hostel that would let me stay, but what about an actual hotel? I don't know that I would prefer a hotel anyway, but my dad is curious and I want to do all I can to ease his anxiety/fear/whatever. :P

Are you planning on booking the hotel or just turning up? because if you book it first, it should be fine and you could always shoot them an email at that point to check. If you just turn up, depending on how young you look they might not even think to check.
I used to work in a hotel, we had a few 17 year olds stay with us and it was no problem. I think their rooms were usually booked & paid for by their parents though, so maybe that's why no one minded!

My parents added me to a credit card of their's before I left. Primarily because I was worried my debit card wouldn't work at most ATM's, but also for emergencies. If your dad is really worried, then perhaps this is an idea. I think the main thing with hotels not wanting under-18's is the fact that many want a credit card as insurance (in case you muck up the room royally) so if you have one, there should definitely be no problem.

I think that is primarily for the "big" chain hotels. If you went to a 1 or 2 star mom and pop type hotel I bet they wouldn't care.
