Im going to be in Salamanca Spain for 6 weeks starting June 22nd +6 weeks.
I would really like to find a family to stay with. I know families offer this type of service because many international/ study abroad courses provide these houseing services to their students. How/Where can I find out about family housing? I have already tried contacting study abroad programs with no luck.

HI...welcome to the boards.

You could always check into their newspaper classifieds. I was looking into taking some ESL classes in Spain and that is where I was referred to many a time. I am not sure exactly where the city you wish to stay is located, or how easy it to get ahold of material for there. Madrid and Barcelona are obviously easier to obtain information for. ESLcafe.com may have some answers for you.

tried couchsurfing.com? Its a worldwide network of people who put their couches up for people to sleep. Its usually not for 6 weeks at a time but it may buy you some time in country to locate something else.

If you want to work while staying, you could trying doing a work exchange (either through a work exchange site or classifieds, such as local paper or online).

You may want to contact the Embassy.

Some hostels let you work for a place to stay. There's a great hostel finder on the main page of travelpunk.
