Sooo..... I'm moving to NYC... sort of. I have a plane ticket to Laguardia for the 5th. I'm supposed to get there around noon. I have a killer resume. However.. I dont have a place to live yet... Couches? Anyone? Um... I'm willing to work something out financially for a futon and a shower.

Hmm...well, I can't really be of TOO much assistance seeing as how I don't have my own place to offer you a couch at. Make sure you're searching all 5 boroughs of NYC on Couchsurfing...I'm sure there are more available couches outside of Manhattan, and of course, everything's well connected by public transportation.
For hostels, the Manhattan Youth Castle offers a 6 night ditty for $125 plus tax. Other than that, keep an eye on craigslist.
I'll be going away for a few weeks but when I'm back, we should have a pint! It'll be closer to Thanksgiving...hopefully by then, things will have started working for you.

Hmm, after looking through craigslist (both because of your situation, and because I'll need a place now and then to stay!), I found the following room for rent. If you look through craigslist and do Google searches, I'm sure you'd find more. Mind you, you'll need some $$$ upfront.

BE CAREFUL! Some ads on Craigslist sound like serious "rooms in exchange for sexual favours"....I mean, you do your thing, but just take some caution.

Haha, it says 'small' chores are required like cooking, cleaning, shopping, massage.
