Hey, I'm really stuck for accomodation in Munich, I've found a couple places well reviewed but they're all expensive. I'm going to be spending quite a bit to be travelling the in the major cities as it is, Munich is my final destination and I'm there for three days in May.....I need something reasonably priced but worth staying in! Think safe, breakfast included, doesn't have to be a 4 star. HELP!!!

I stayed at the Euro-Youth hostel in Munich when I was there. It was a lot of fun-- great atmosphere, it doesn't hurt that they have a bar downstairs. I think it was about 20-25 euros/night or so. It's very close to the Hauptbahnhof.

wombats hostel, w/o a doubt one of the top 3 hostels i stayed at. brand new as of oct 2004! it was about 22 euro (winter rates) but well worth it. 6 person rooms w/ shower en suite. oh, and litterally across the st from the hauptbahnhof.
www.hostelworld.com does a pretty good job of getting cheap hostels listed...
good luck

I'll second the wombats nomination. I stayed there and it was a great place. Friendly atmosphere, great rooms, and great staff. The bar is great, plus the food there was pretty cheap and good.

MMMMMmmmmm I miss the beer there
I'd stay at wombats too. I didn't stay there but I heard lots of good stuff about it while I was in Munich.

I thought wombats was in vienna?
For what it was worth, i stayed in euro youth hostel when in munich the first time, second we camped at thalkirchen (beerfest )
Euro Youth Hostel was good, it was more like a small hotel. Had a room with 2 others i was travelling with, and with a tv and everything, not so dear either.
Oz.

What about this place, maybe not quite 4 stars but....
The Tent
How cool does that look, not talkin bout luxury, more about the fun aspect, plus dirt cheap.
