So what the deal with them...
should you get 4,6,8...20 bed rooms? what is ensuite mean? what happens if I party till 5 in the morning (does this piss off the other people you are sharing a dorm with), don't they kick me out @ a certintime? I heard they close from x hour to x hour. where do you go for siesta's? I have a million more ?'s about them but these were my main concerns. Lastly Can people recommend certian one they have personally stayed @ in Barcelona and Paris.

thanks
tyson

P.S. which are the best beaches in Barcelona

Generally I prefer 8 or less dorm rooms. 20+ could be interesting though. "Ensuite" means there's a shower and toilet (WC) in the room. Some hostels have a curfew, meaning you're shit out of luck if you show up past whatever it is (2am is standard). If you're planning to party all the time, make sure you get a hostel that advertises no curfew. I've stayed at the Ideal Youth in Barcelona which was pretty nice, and I've heard good things about the Kabul but they do not book online-- you just have to show up there. For Paris, I've stayed at the Square Caulaincourt but I've heard very good things about the BVJ Louvre, Le Village and the Woodstock. Avoid Peace & Love, 3 Ducks, and the Young and Happy hostels in Paris.

I've never stayed in a hostel in europe only back here in canada, but basically everything as said before. Hostels.com reviews hostels which has been pretty accurate in my experience, but if you do come back at 4 in the morning some people might get mad, NO MATTER WHAT DON'T TURN ON THE LIGHT! i've seen where someone was drunkand turned on the light and got screamed at by a group of people, scary. so just be respectful, don't let your drunken stupor get you an ass whooppin

Mixing it up and meeting more people is cool, but it's also nice to establish a bit of a home base. It really depends how long you're staying in one city, though. If I'm somewhere for a week or more, I don't mind mixing it up, but otherwise, it's kind of cool to see the same people for five days, even if it's just to cook dinner or have a few beers and recap the day together.
