Hey gang. I've got a request from the lot of you.

Being in Peace Corps in Africa, I'm a bit down on time and resources to scour the net for travel information. So, I have the following questions for those who have this information tucked away in their heads, and for those who are willing to go digging for it.

As goes for most of us, I'm looking to travel on the cheap.

1. A place to stay in London, 3 nights, starting Sept. 8 (I've looked into Picadilly, and it looks cool but kinda pricey... do you think it's worth it?)

2. A place to stay in Frankfurt, 4 nights starting Sept. 11

3. The cheapest possible way to get From Frankfurt to Warsaw, Riga, then Helsinki. Cheap flights would be best, but trains/busses would do.

So, any ideas?
Rob

P.s. Don't have ISIC card or any other student discount anymore. Too bad they don't offer discounts to international volunteers

well i would definately suggest a eurolines pass because they have some great deals going at the moment even if your not a student! They also go direct from frankfurt to warsaw, i find that eurolines is much much cheaper than the trains

Frankfurt (Hahn) to Warsaw on Wizz Air: 38€ incl. taxes

Can't find anything from Warsaw to Riga...
You can, however, get from Warsaw to Vilnius via Air Baltic (linked below) and then get around by bus...

Riga to Helsinki on Air Baltic: 70-150€ incl. taxes

Okay. For London, you could try the Generator. It's about $30 US per night or so. No matter what you do, you're probably not going to find anything cheaper than that in London-- it's a horribly expensive city. I've also heard good things about St. Christopher's Shepherd's Bush hostel. Check here for hostels starting Sept. 8.

For Frankfurt, I don't know of any recommendations but look here for availability starting Sept. 11.

Good luck!

RyanAir flies into Riga, or you could take a bus from Warsaw to Vilnius (about $25 - not a great bus) then Vilnius to Riga (5 hours, about $25 - better bus). You could also take the bus all the way to Tallinn (about 10-12 hours, can't remember the price) and then take the hydrofoil to Helsinki. Eurolines buses cover all these routes, so if they had a pass, you'd be golden. Vilnius is cheap, cheap for food/accommodations, Latvia is about the same.

LOT Polish airlines flies from Warsaw to Riga, but I don't believe it is daily service. Any ideas on when you might want to go...?

I've been living in London for the past three years, and i'm yet to find a cheap place to stay! If i was still down there i'd offer you a place at our gaf!

I would say it is defintley NOT worth paying extra to be in Picadilly; you'll find it is a lot harder to find a cheap place to eat around there too, other than Burger King. As long as the place you are staying at is close to the tube you'll find everything in London is easily accessable (although i'd understand if you didn't want to use the Underground; the bus networks are almost replicas of the tube networks, but it usually takes longer!). If you want to be in the hub of everything, you might want to consider staying within zone 1 and 2 of London (the zones are easily figured out by looking at a London Underground Map

You might want to consider easyjet.com, bmibaby.com and i think someone else already suggested ryanair.com for flights. I'm not sure if they'll do your destinations, but they are pretty cheap. Strangly enough, British Airways (ba.com) can also be cheap, but again i'm not sure if they will do your destinations. As always, the early bird gets the worms!

Hope you have fun!
