Need paris Hostel

I am going to be flying into Paris this Sat. morning and wanted to book a hostel or something for the first night there just so I have a place I know I can go. I want something CHEAP! if there is such a thing in Paris.
and convenient, around things or the airport/train or something like that. any recomendations would be great. Oh and if there are must sees in Paris besides the obvious, Eiffel etc. Love to hear them.

Hey Dmac, 2 sites I would recommend would be the Arche De Triomphe



I stayed on top of that thing for almost 3 hours just watching the INSANE traffic that goes around the Arche FYI: ALL INSURENCE IS VOID WHILE IN THE ARCHE ROUNDABOUT..LOLOLOL

And the Paris Military Museum



In the post from olive she reccomends Hotel Leveque, in the Rue Clair neighborhood, i dunno if its cheap, but hey, worth a try i guess

I checked out the two hostels you recomended but niether were available for the day I need.
I did a search for paris hostels and only about five came up for the day I need.
If you, or anybody else out there knows which of these is the best bet, I would love to hear about it. thanks a bizzle.

I was at the The 3 Ducks, didn't stay(they were full). My friend had a room there, but I didn't and they didn't have any vacancies either. They recommend a hostel/hotel about 2 blocks away called The Printemps(pronounced "prin-tomp"). About 3 1/2 years (before the euro), it was like $25 USD for my private own room with a balconey, shower/toilet, and over looking the main street. It was my first night in europe and what an introduction to Paris/Europe it was! My friend canceled his reservation the moment he saw my room and for a few bucks more, he could have his own private, like mine, instead of a shared one in a very tiny Three Ducks dorm room.


The next night, we had to check out because they were full, and around the corner very close by, was one that they(the person at the Printemps) recommended we stay at called the Eunic (or Unic?) and this thing is run by a very nice old lady/couple that don't know a word of english. You have to walk through a small little bar to get to the stairway. It's in an old building with no lobby. The bartender told us the floor and the unit number to knock on. This lady opens the door and didn't understand anything, so if you go this route, learn or write down on a piece of paper "do you have a room for a 1,2,3 nights for __ number of people? How much?" in FRENCH! So she can read it and write the price down for you. You pay, and she gives you a key and you come and go as you please. Very simple private rooms for about $26USD anight, mine had a stand up shower, but the toilet was in the stairway, no big deal(just take with you your room key). Take note of this one, as you won't find it listed anywhere. It's a nice backup and, close to everything. If you forget this info, the staff at the Printemps should know it.


Did some research (it's not on the Tpunk database) and found the one that I stayed in. It's in a nice little district, next to a bunch of boulangeries, the metro, and little restarurants. Like I said, the infamous 3 Ducks is located there too. Not sure how much they are now(my prices are 3yrs), but since they're not known widely on the net(until now), their prices still might be low comparatively speaking.

There are other hotel and hostels that have the same name as both of these, but are more expensive, so ask your cab driver to take you to the above address, on "rue du commerce" (Commerce street)

Hotel Andre Gill was weak. Had like one bathroom in the whole building...if I remember correctly. Also, hallway lights that only stayed on for a period after you turned them on. I have a humorous photo of me and 2 others that got stuck in the same room cuz they overbooked and we literally crammed in wall-to-wall beds. I mean, it was cool cuz they were buds, but still - you get the point.

I think the Avenir Hotel down the street is better. Of course, that's just in that one lil area of Paris, you could stay anywhere.
