Hey, I was just wondering what the deal was for the 3 Ducks in May, I heard they weren't open in May when i'm going to be in Paris. I thought about booking BVJ just so I don't run into complications, is that the best place in Paris to stay? I'm looking for breakfast and a good location to save on transportation (walking )
Thanks!

3 Ducks is the place to party, but from what i hear, it's nasty and stanky. And they have a curfew.

BVJ is definitely NOT a party place - in fact, it can be boring, but the location kicks ass, there's no curfew, no lockout, and the breakfast is simple but pretty good - all the baguettes you want to eat, plus yogurt, juices, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh fruits. There's no public-use kitchen and no sort of tv room/lounge to meet others in, but the lobby area and internet room might make up for that lack of social space...

I have stayed at 3 Ducks. It wasn't bad, but I don't go for curfews any more. The reason it was fun (when I was younger) was the diversity of people that were staying there and the late night parties after curfew.

If you really want to stay were you can have access to constant night life and people... you might want to try some of the places closer to the Bastille or Montmartre. I always seem to have pretty good luck with those as far as activities and meeting new people.

travelpunk.com and www.guideforeurope.com have the best overall view about hostles near those spots.

Well, the BVJ Louvre is right by the Quartier Latin, so I don't think it'll make much of a difference, location-wise. I'd go by amenities, at that point.
