I see lots of hostels that you can book here for Europe - just wondering if there certain hostels that get booked alot more than others.

Just curious!

I think that question might be able to be answered by T-Punk, but I booked mine on this site about a month ago with no problem, a small deposit on my VISA and payment in full when I get there. I get emailed a confirmation #. Everything has gone ok so far. B)

Thanks - I was more just wondering which hostels get booked the most.

According to the booking engine statistics, the hostels on the homepage of this site are among the top hostels booked.
Here they are along with a few others that constantly get booked through the booking engine. Not to say that all have high marks, since we can only know how they really are through feedback by other backpackers. However, we do know that these hostels haven´t had any complaints by backpackers on these message boards.

i was reading your list tp and noticed c&n backpackers in vancouver. I've obviously never stayed there since vancouvers my home, but i pass it everyday on the bus and TRUST ME it ain't all that. It's located really close to the bus terminal (like 2 mins away), but it is in a disgusting looking building and it's NOT in a nice location at all. It's located on main st. Now don't get me wrong i live near main street but i live on the south end of the street. You start going up sixty or so blocks and that's when it turns all gross. Their website is a crock. So if anyone is up for a rundown building, with bunk beds pressed against the window (what i see from the bus) and in a not so nice location then this place is for you.

The best hostels in the city are the three hostelling international hostels as well as global village backpackers which is a private hostelling chain (think they have one in toronto). ANother popular hostel is the cambie located in gastown. I don't knowif it's good or not, but the big draw is the pub downstairs where you can get cheap ass beer (popular place for the locals).

anyhoo this is just a heads up

Thanks Dio!

I don´t know beans about it, myself, just looking at the bookings stats from the hostel search engine in conjuction with hostelworld.com.

It gets bookings from this site and we haven´t had any complaints so far. Maybe people opt for it´s location to the bus and the cheap rates? I dunno  All I can say it that i can confirm bookings for that hostel as far as Vancouver hostels are concerned.

Thanks for the scoop ;)

well they're stupid then.

Don't say i didn't tell you...idiots.

(i have pms  )

Diorama is so right with C&N!

When I saw it listed I couldn't believe it. I never stayed there myself but I met a friend who was staying at the hostel. From memory it was really cheap and that's why he chose it. But trust me it wasn't worth cheaping out. The place was a dump. His bedroom didn't lock, all crap fixtures and the place really stunk like nothing I've experienced before.

travelpunk 08-07-2003 09:00 AM

C&N will be removed from that list, to dissuade any potential backpackers heading to Vancouver (but, I can´t remove it from the search engine, it´s hostelworld´s).

Merci TP!

I feel like i've saved a backpacker!

Next time I go by C&N on the bus i'll egg them.

oh and thanx glacier for the validation.

Saving backpackers from sleazy hostels is definitely the idea on this forum.

Thanks for your passionate protest of that hostel, Dio ;) .
