my friend and i are going to europe in december and trying to prolong the trip as much as possible so we're posting up on help exchange and global freeloader, anybody used these while travelling in europe? are these reliable and how do they work, do the people come and pick you up or do you find your own way to their place? especially help exchange working on someone's farm out in the hills....?
thank you!

Hey there. I also noticed that there is a site couchsurfing.com. They might be a good one to hook up with too as there is a validation process people can go through. It's pretty connected and I've joined up but haven't stayed anywhere yet. The people seem cool though!

I have hosted and been hosted through these. All three experiences were great and have made one good and lasting friend through it. I aslo used Hospitality club on top of couch surfing and global freeloaders. I intend to try to use it more through Italy next month.

That said always have a back up plan in case the house is a bit dodgy when you get there or no one you cantact has space for you on the dates you need.
