Ok so me and 3 of my friends are going to the UK and Germany next summer. Currently we're looking to go to London(of course), Blackpool, Edinburgh, Berlin, and somewhere else in Germany but we havent figuared that part out yet. As it stands we're looking to stay at the Smart Hyde Park in London, the Staymor Guest House in Blackpool and the West End Hostel or The Globetrotter Inn in Edinburgh. We havent figuared out where we are going to stay in Berlin so any advice in that area would be extremly helpful. Also if anyone has stayed at any of the above places and have either had any good or bad experiences it would be a great help if you could drop me a line. Thanks in advanced.

I havent stayed in any of those ones but I know in Berlin there is a lot of choice. I stayed in 'The Circus' hostel which was one of the most chilled out, spacious and cleanest I have stayed in. Having said that it was maybe slightly more expensive than the others.

I agree with the above about staying in The Circus Hostel in Berlin. There are two locations and they might cost a little more a night, but are excellent. The one I stayed at was the best hostel I stayed at while in Europe. The rooms are large, clean, great bar in the basement, powerful showers, and a great breakfast.

I also stayed at the A & O Hostle by the Zoo Train Station. This one is pretty cheap and the location is good since it is by the main train station, but there are a lot of school groups that stay there so that might be reaosn enough to avoid it, even though it was not bad.

There is a lot to see in Berlin. Even though I don't go on city tours too often, I would suggest going on the Insider Tour. It cost me 9 euro and you will be walking a lot, but you will get to see most of the famous World War II sites, plus whats left of the Berlin Wall. The guide was also very informative and spends a good amount of time at the sites.

I would also recommend the Circus Hostel in Berlin. I didnt stay there, but I went inside and the whole thing is brand new and looks like a nice hotel. The bar downstairs is cool too. I stayed at a place called Bax Pax, only becase it was closest to the train station. It was clean and had nice facilities, but was really out of the way and didnt have the best atmosphere. I also got a mean case of bedbugs there.

I did some walking tours in Berlin, which were well worth it. The Spy Tour, about the cold war and communism adn whatnot, was very interesting. I also took the general Berlin overview walking tour that covered everything - Nazi reminders, Hitlers bunker (parking lot), some cold war stuff, history of the city, alternative communities squatting in old buildings, the monuments - stuff liek that.
