Ok leaving for italy at end of jul. We arrive in milan and have a hostel booked til 2nd aug, Gonna book campsite in florence 6-8th and campsite in rome for 13-15 aug and flying back on 18th. since we are not really too sure where we want to go between those dates we were gonna bring a tent and go where mood/advice from people we meet takes us. Is this wise or will we have trouble getting decent places to stay. Don't mind winging it a bit but can see the girlfriend getting upset if we have to spend most of our time in new places looking for hostels/campsites.

Also....do most cities/towns/villages have proper camping sites close by, and can you just set up camp beside beaches cos really want to wake up beside a beach at least two or 3 days during the trip

Thanks for the info, seems to be plenty of campsites in the south of italy so hopefully everything should be sweet. Can't wait to get over there, 4 weeks to go
