Did the Generator in London shut down? Cause I can't find it on the hostel listing anymore.. and I was hoping to stay as it always got pretty good reviews...
Next Question.. Does anyone know of any hostels that specifically are in old castles or churches... I found one in Edinburg located in a church and I think it would be pretty cool to stay in something like that.. |
Can't answer your second question, but I don't think the Generator is served by TP's reservation system. (At least, not anymore.) They're still around:
http://www.generatorhostels.com/ Personally, while I know the Generator has a rep as the party hostel in London, I'm a devotee of the Astor Hyde Park. It's not as central (but still well located) but the staff and people are awesome, the on-site bar rocks, and it's conveniently available here: link via TP's booking system |
ohhh Astor Hyde looks very nice.. I was thinking about Dover Castle Hostel and Bar as I think they were the cheapest in London so if anyone has any experiences there let me know

buddy, for castles check out http://www.celticcastles.com/ for a list of castles you can stay in ( scroll down to the bottom right for the hostels: Carbisdale is 13.50 pounds a night, so they seem pretty reasonable)
Belford hostel (in Edinburgh) seems to be the only church hostel i can find. there are quite a few websites dedicated to ppl who want to stay in lighthouses, but most of them are quite expensive (and alot in the USA/ canada) In scotland check out http://www.scotland-info.co.uk/rr-house.htm for 9 pounds 50 for a 4 bed drom in a lighthouse you can also try a search for convents and monestries (there seems to be a fair few in Italy) Hope that helps z |
