I'm planning my two month trip to europe and am being lured by the great prices of camping outside rome as opposed to a hostel in the city. Who here has or plans on camping? If anyone wants to share thier experience to help me decide, it's greatly appriciated.

Hi. I haven't camped in Europe yet, but do plan on doing so next summer. We will be camping/hosteling/staying with friends/family. I plan on staying at campgrounds in more places near the ocean/seas - Norway, Greece, etc. I found some beautiful places to camp and will post the website later (if you want it) that lists campgrounds in Europe.

I've stayed in a few campsites around Italy, near Florence, Rome, and in Sorrento (the sorrento and florence ones were awesome)
you cant expect perfect customer service or anything like that, but its nice to be in nature and REALLY cheap. anyways, I always look at hostels.com, it is the best hostel website (sorry travelpunk) and it lists alot of italian camp sites. best of luck- if you need more specific info I can try to remember for you...

Hey I found this http://www.webeverything.co.uk/directory/130703.html while looking for campsites myself. It lists sites in Italy. Webeverything also has campground info for other counties as well.

Hey Pikushi,
Im kinda doing the same thing for this summer around Greece and Italy. I think I might try and get a few nights at hostels booked so ive a vague sort of itinerary, but apart from that I want to camp a lot. Im not really sure how easy it would be to just camp on a random beach, but thats something i definately want to try.

Welcome to the boards

Yes! camping on a random beahc or something would be awesomely awesome if you ask me. I don't have any clue about laws  in requard to this, or which countries are the best. I did know a girl who slept on the beach in hawaii for a month with no trouble, but thats not europe. anyway, anyone know? Punter is on the right page.
