Where's the best place to go on vacation, for one week with an 18 month old?

Default Travel to Vietnam, why not?

I have just come back home from Vietnam which is a small lovely country. I had travelled there for three weeks. I went to famous place in Vietnam as Halong, Nhatrang and ending of Hanoi. The seasides in Vietnam are so impressed. Halong is attracted with system of numbers of small and big islands and Nhatrang sea is so beautiful with pure and green sea water. I spent for more 2 weeks to sightseeing in these seasides and feel Asia sunsight, wind and people.
Ending of our travelling is Hanoi Capital. It’s total different from others. Hanoi is crowded and dusty but I like it. Because it’s so special. Especially Old Street in Hanoi. It’s very stwiting and filled so many buildings with full of service kinds. Hanoi people are open, pleasant and hospitable.

Not having an 18 month old child -- actually, any children -- I would defer to someone who has traveled with kids. There is a Tpunk named tumblezweedz that travels with a whole brood of children. I've met Tamara, and she's wonderful. More importantly for you, she has tons of tips for traveling with kids. We've urged her to write a book about it for years.

I would do a member search and find posts by her. I'm sure there will be plenty of useful info for you. Not sure if this link will work, but here's the result of my "find posts by this member":

Good luck!

Located in the Asian Pacific, the island of Bali is an exotic oriental destination in Indonesia. It is here that you will find yourself immersed in authentic Indonesian culture, dance, and food. The level of customer service on the island of Bali is astounding and you’ll never feel out of place as the locals bend over backward to help you get acclimatised to the atmosphere. Relax on the beach by day, explore the bustling nightlife, and then find comfort in some of the world’s finest villas and hotels. Experience ultimate relaxation while enjoying the authentic Indonesian spirit and drinking in the fantastic scenery. You won’t want to go home.

the first thing is what’s your purpose of your vacation.
if you are in your honeymoon, Europe is romantic,
if you like history, China or Greece is a good choice,
if you are a explorer, Africa I recommand..

It depends on your choice too. Each continent has some very beautiful places to visit. Like in Europe itself, the list is quite long. if you want to enjoy the natural beauty then you can come down to Ireland. It has some very beautiful places.Asia too have such places. So narrow your choice on it. Wat say....

What is it you are looking for? Culture, scenery, night-life, wildlife...? This will really help you make a decision on where to go.If it were me, with all of Asia to aim for and a month to play with, I would go for South East Asia.

Singapore is pretty good attraction in Asia where unique culture outstanding beauty with plenty of popular destinations are located which attract tourist and visitors comes from all over the world especially for Sentosa, Singapore Zoo, Universal Studios, Chinatown and Boat Quay are the main tourist’s attraction.

One of the wisest things to do while planning a vacation is to go through a reliable online hotel reservation agency who can give you a special Singapore hotels.

If you are on a small trip , you can visit countries like Vietnam, the sea sides in this country are quite impressive. However, if you wish to plan trips for a month or so then you must visit countries like Spain, South Africa, New Zealand etc.

As cities and their countries of origin naturally go together, many travelers think of them as separate holidays. Countries are often considered the places you want to experiment and explore, rushing through the best places to visit in order to understand the breadth of the culture of a country.

Cities, by contrast, are often regarded as unique, fascinating places that require several days of detailed exploration to unravel the mysteries surrounding special feeling you have when going to visit one of the largest cities in the world.

I have to say Europe is super family friendly. Everywhere I've been in Europe seems to be really family friendly, especially since this new baby boom the past decade.

Seriously, take your pick... even though the child from the original post is about 8 yrs old now.

For the ones who want to explore South Asia, I would recommend Goa. It is India’s smallest state which is on India’s West coast. It has an amazing culture and beautiful beaches to explore.
