Ive only been to Rome, and stayed in a crappy hostel. But I heard great reviews about The Yellow Hostel. Maybe check that out.

Anyone here stay at the Flying Pig in A-dam?

MeTurk 04-10-2009 10:57 AM

I stayed in the flying pig in town, twice. It's got a great location and a bar, it gets your standard (cool) backpacker due to it's popularity. It's not that great inside though. It's a bit on the run down side.

I stayed at the bulldog 5 star hostel in the red light last time I was there and really liked it. I don't think it's any more expensive than the flying pig but you do get a jump in standards. The dooms all have there own toilets that are full wet rooms and there's a nice bar.

I'd go with the 5 star from now on but I don't think you'd be all that disappointed with either.

In Madrid Mad Hostel was quite good, not to expensive and quite laid back. They didn't have a breakfast though I don't think. In Rome I would say try camping village roma, it was my favourite in my whole trip. it is cheaper than any other place in Rome, and you can rent a bed in a "bungalow" which has 3 beds and a bathroom plus the site has a bar, club, pool, hot tub, cheap restaurant and a great atmosphere. It is near the edge of town so it is about 45-60 mins to the sights but it is just a great place.

Have fun!

Napoli, Hostel of the sun!! Located right at Porto Beverello and all the ferry's.... Hostel Naples - Ostello Napoli - Hostel of the Sun I REALLY enjoyed this place. Another great hostel about 45 min ferry from Napoli on Ischia Island in the city of Forio is http://www.ringhostel.com/ Its just one badass hostel in a 4 story, old italian home. And the city of Forio is mellow.....
Amsterdam, I liked the Hortus Pension the best Welcome to HotelHortus Amsterdam We now offer Free WIFI to All our Guests I fucking love this place, free breakfast in the morn, they cook you fried eggs to order, toaster on the table, just comfy dutchness.. Free internet, pool, etc. maybe 5 Euro more than the hostels, but well worth it!!

I loved the Yellow in Rome when I stayed there. Got stuck there for a LONG time. Decent location i got on real well with the staff and there always seemed to be something going down in the common room. plus they have a bar now.

Never been to napoli but everyone who has seems to reccommend the hostel of the sun very highly.

hmm, madrid. stayed mostly at mucho madrid. very small operation (is it still running) ran by a great old man. After a night of hard drinking when some of us came back worse for wear, he left a big bottle of water by each of our beds. pretty mint i figured.

In Amsterdam, I stayed at Stayokay Vondelpark, it's very nice and clean, has a bar which serves up cheap meals as well, and I really liked the location - right on the edge of the park and a quick walk to leidseplein (where all the bars/restaurants are)
In Ireland (any specific city?!) I stayed at Avalon house in Dublin and Paddy's Palace in Belfast, & I'd definitely recommend both of those.

In Amsterdam hostel AnneMarie is cheaper then others and is perfectly located. It is next to the Van Gogh museum and the Rijks (sp?) museum too. The "IAMSTERDAM" sign is directly in front of you when you leave the hostel.

I recommend the Bunkhouse in Dublin. Well located (Dublin is very walkable), comfortable beds, and a FULL Irish breakfast included (and kitchen facilities available for guests throughout the day).

This looks like a good place...
