Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest - where should I stay?
hey guys!! so I've pretty much booked my entire trip for july, save for Warsaw, Krakow and Budapest. Any recommendations? close to the good bits of town (I don't know where that is, I've never been to these places before!), something fairly cheap, and it's not necessary, but I appreciate a good kitchen. where have you guys stayed?

I haven’t been to any of those places yet, but will be heading there next year myself. Here is a list of a few Hostels that I have been looking into. Budapest:: Back Pack Guesthouse Yellow Submarine Hostel Warsaw:: Nathan’s Villa Okie Doki Krakow:: Nathan’s Villa Gardenhouse Besides there own website which I would have there names linked too (save for the fact I don't have 15 posts yet so can't for you), you can also find each Hostel at Hostel World. They all have rather high rating reviews and I do believe kitchens as well. :thumbup: BPG (Budapest) is twenty minutes roughly from the city centre, while YSH (Budapest) is rather close to the city’s heart. NV (Warsaw) and OD (Warsaw) are within Warsaw’s city centres. You can find another NV (Krakow) in Krakow also in the city’s centre, and GH (Krakow) is by Main Market Square situated on famous Florianska Street. Hopes this helps you out a bit. Each hostel is close to something worth seeing within each city you plan on staying in, hence why I was looking into them in the first place. You shall have to let us all know how it went when you come back. For Budapest I have to recommend Goat Hostel. Steve and Gabe who own the place (or are running it all the time) are awesome and will do extra stuff for you sometimes. Like this girl had a package she wanted mailed and she was supposed to take a train that day so they offered to mail it for her. They are located pretty central. You could walk to everything on the Pest side, but its a pretty good hike to the hills on the Buda side (I've done it before) The sights aren't really concentrated in one section in Budapest but its a beautiful city for walking.
Avoid Nathan's Villa unless you are looking for a rowdy time. But otherwise I totally recommend them. Free laundry, free internet, clean bed, what more could you ask for (they give lots of other extras too)? Aside from Nathan's Villa there are dozens of hostels in Krakow offering the same thing with different decorations. |
okay, I had a look at the Goat Hostel in Budapest and it looks awesome, so that's booked. any more ideas for poland?

In Krakow I stayed in the Tutti Frutti hostel which was one of the best I've stayed in. I don't think you can go wrong with accomodation in Krakow, from what I've heard they're all awesome there.

Also sorry I'm late on the Budapest advice but the 11th Hour hostel was pretty rad.

We stayed at Nathan's Villa Hostel in Krakow and really enjoyed the experience. We were there in July a few years back, with four little kids and didn't find it terribly rowdy, I guess it depends who happens to be around at the time. Very convenient location and helpful staff. Plus, free laundry is good, although it's good to know that they do it for you and it all hangs to dry, so you have to plan ahead if you're moving on the next day! (Possibly this has changed since we were there, just a head's up on our experience.)
We rented a flat in Budapest, so I can't suggest anything there, and in Warsaw I stayed in a private room, so ditto. Good luck and enjoy, eastern Europe is such a fabulous place to travel! :tumbleweed: |
