I booked a hostel (Ace Hotel, if anyone knows something about it, do tell) in London for the first two nights my friend and I will be there. I checked reviews online and they are pretty mixed, but what I gather from it is that: it's very clean, but almost sterile. It's cramped (doesn't really bother me). It's not walking distance to the main tourist attractions. And, there isn't much of a social atmosphere there. We want a social atmosphere.
I only booked a place so we won't be stranded our first couple of nights there, then after that I'll be in Paris (with a free room
) for 5 nights, but we will be going back to London after Paris for another four nights.
Here are the options I'm going over:
1. Book the next four nights at the Ace Hotel sight unseen so we won't be stranded after Paris.
2. Stay there for the first two nights and decide from there if we should book it again after Paris.
3. Look for a different hostel while I'm home, comb through reviews, and consider all suggestions of other hostels to stay at, and book it before I leave the States.
The problem I have with option 2 (also known as "winging it") is that, if we don't like the Ace Hotel and refuse to stay there, will it be easy enough to get reservations at a different hostel on four days notice?
We definitely want a social atmosphere with people our age (19), since that will be a big part of the trip for us. We don't want to be partying every single night, but there will be nights that we want to go out and have an easy stumble back to the bed (i.e., no curfew). So any recommendations on a hostel that fits the above will also be appreciated.
Thanks for helping...
