BVJ Hostel

I tried to make reservations on the BVJ hostel site, but I have no idea if it went through. I put in my name, dates and email clicked "reserve" and got a message that said, "your dates have been reserved!" But, I haven't recieved a confirmation email or been prompted to put down a deposit... wtf?

Has anyone made a reservation through the BVJ website? Is there any form of confirmation? Do I have a bed!?!?!?!

You may just want to shoot them a quick e-mail to confirm. Better safe than sorry.

I just got an email from them saying my bed reserved, but I should resend my reservation 15 days before I get there... weird.

Lots of hostels work like that I've found. they like to ensure people are actually showing up. especially if they don't take a deposit from you. :)

That makes since, I'm glad they sent me the email back though... good to know the request actually went through. And, I can cancel with no worries if I need to since they don't have my credit card number! Just gotta remember to make another request before I leave... ;)

I've stayed at BVJ before.

It's a good hostel, good location... make sure they do NOT give you the room on the roof. In the summer its like a BILLION degrees up there, and I literally had to sleep on the ground because the 2 feet made a difference in temperature.

About reservations - the best thing to do is to just call them to re-confirm. Second best is direct email contact with their staff. Third best is direct online booking if the hostel has a webpage.

Booking through travel websites like hostels.com (in my opinion) is a waste of time and money. It's a waste of time because half the time the hostel doesn't care about that you have a reference number, and waste of money because websites usually make you have some deposit.

When I was there, they didn't have a record of my reservation (although I booked in advance), but they had room, so all was good.
