Need a Suggestion on Rome Hostels
Hey Guys,
I am going to be in Rome in a couple days and I need some suggestions on where to stay. I have read good things about Yellow Hostel, but the fact that it sounds like a big party hostel scares me away. I would much rather be in a small social place where I can hang out with the other people for a few beers or a bottle of wine or two. I am going to be in Rome in a couple days I think.

I wont be much help, but Im going to Rome in Feb and have done allot of research on where to stay , and heres my advice on what to do:
Do a search on here for Rome hostels... write down the ones people liked... go to other message board sites and do the same. Go to some of the bigger blog sites (i wont post the links) and on the search function , search for those names. you'll find allot of people just posting to their families about the places stayed...its less commercial and will give you a feel for what they're like..
Next go to hostelz.com and look up the ones you liked and read the reviews.. this should narrow it down..
...or it might be overkill

i've stayed at alasondrows palace (sp?) and yellow. i'd take yellow any day. it had some really cool staff and i dont think it was crazy at all compared to some places. they did have some stuff going, but it was mostly organized outside the hostel like pub crawls. they don't have an in house bar so it dosen't get out of hand inside. i think i know what your looking for, they yellow may not be it but it was a good clean hostel.

I have heard some good things about the Beehive and Alessandro's Downtown Hostel.
I would like to stay at the Yellow Hostel on my next trip in Rome. Given you are really going during the off season, I think you probably don't need to book in advance. Take a day at Yellow and if it isn't your bag, switch off to another one.
Good luck Ed, Rome is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen!

I stayed at yellow hostel and they are the best hostel experience for hostel i had in my 3 months travelling and staying in hostels. It was more expenisve then some of the others but it was close to the train station and they have awesome tours are pub crawls. But they also phoned a tour company that was late to pick me up. hope this helps
