Hello, i'm going to be flying into paris at the end of april 2004 and i was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions for places to stay?!
i found the "aloha hostel" which seems relatively cheap, but has anyone stayed there and had a good/bad experience!?
This is my first trip alone, so i am hoping to start it off on the right foot by choosing a good first hostel!
thanks

I heard that it was good and read some reviews online...somewhere.
Also, check out the "Young and Happy hostel" and "the 3 ducks"
all three of these can be found on the hostel search engine on the Tpunk home page .

I've heard good things about the 3 Ducks, Woodstock, and another one in the Marais-- I think it's just Hostel du Marais? Anyway, I've heard *not* so good things about Friends, Young & Happy, and whatever that "peace" one is.
I stayed at the Caulaincourt last year and it was pretty good. Nice area, close to the metro, clean, many rooms have fantastic views. But I don't think it's very cheap and it didn't seem to be a big party place.
Good luck!

ah, cool... maybe I'll check it out when I'm there in April. I had heard from a few different people that it was friendly but probably the dirtiest hostel in Paris. *shrug*

Just to add my 2 cents... I had a TERRIBLE experience at Young and Happy! TERRIBLE. It was dirty, and the staff was incredibly rude. The hostel is very old and hasnt been well taken care of at all. I would recommend looking for another option!
