So i'll be flying into milan on the 2nd of march and need a place to crash for a few days while i try to dig up work. Problem is that every hostel search returns hotels that are like 50$ minimum, and besides i need to network with other travelers.
Any hostels that people know about within a small area around milan. I would really appreciate the help and in return i'll send you all the pasta you can handle

thanks,
The new guy

as for hostels in Milan, try this link, should help ya, Available Beds in Milan , although most say hotel, this will pretty much be your budget beds for that area, give a look and see if those are what your looking for andthe price for your dates.

Thanks dude, looks just like me

Actually, i my reason for going to northern italy is to try and find work. I would love to end up at a ski resort in the alps. If you know any hostels near ski resorts that would help sooo much. I am afraid that going to a hotel or b&b will use up more money and result in fewer ideas for places to go. Every search of major cities seems to end up netting hotels.....

Thanks for the reply though, i'll keep hunting.

Some info centres at train stations will have hostel info. Also some hostels have "runners" that try to bring people in to stay at their hostel.

And remember, just cause its not on the net doesn't mean its not there!!

I'm sure there are some cheap hostels there

you guys rock.

So far i have thrown caution to the wind and braved a ticket to milan, but to fly in with no idea where to stay or how to find it seems aweful risky... Where would you look if you landed in a new city and needed a place to crash?

canadiandude: grazie mille for your efforts, and if it helps i will settle anywhere in the foothills that has a hostel. Since my last posting i did a little looking here, and it seems like there is skiing all over italy, not just in the north...

anyway that brings me to another question (and this could help everyone): I think we (esp. me) need a way to pick hostel by region rather than by city name like all the search engines do. So far, all the lists under Italy are a buncha cities in the country that I'm unfamiiliar with and i'd have to look em all up to see which ones are relevant to where i fly into. Anyone know of a site where the hostels come up on a map and you can zoom and then click on the hostel of your choice for pricing?? maybe its a stretch, but it could speed up everyone's searching... just my 2cents

-----> i stared at this way too long, now it's your turn. HA!
