Default Craigslist Apartments?

checking out craigslist and i can't help but to find really nice looking apartments for decent rental prices.
has anyone ever done this? i've stayed with "friends of friends of friends" type of things before and it's a nice way to travel...rather then hotels or hostels...some can be sketchy of course...
just wondering!

I found the apt I live in off craigslist... It turned out pretty well and its definitely cheap. But I am not sure about renting short term for travel.

Have you seen the house swap posts on Craigslist? I wish my roomie would be down, I would love to do that!

I actually rented out an apartment that I own via Craigs List, but I haven't done the short time travel thing either. Checkout couchsurfing.com, some Tpunkers have used this service before with good results.

I've gotten just about everything on Craigslist, but I find it's better to find vacation rentals/apartments via sites that specialize in them for each city. For instance, for my recent Barcelona stay, I got a great apartment in the Barri Gotíc for relatively cheap via http://www.friendlyrentals.com/

Do a Google search for the city name and apartments, and the first hits are usually vacation rentals. While I usually prefer the hostel route, this is a good way to do it if you're in a larger group. The downside is you don't meet as many random people, but it's definitely nice overall.

I found my group house in Buenos Aires through Craigslist...This house is perfect, too. I have 5 roommates, all of which are here for a different reason. Some travelling, some studying, and some working. So it adds a nice dynamic to the house. Rent is pretty cheap...cleaning service 3 times a week, and a computer with internet access is all included. It´s a lot cheaper than staying in a hostel, but kindof feels hostelish at times....

I loooooove craigslist .
