Default Hostels with lockers

Hi all... I will be carrying around some valuables and an even more valuable backpack!... so I want to find hostels that have lockers that will hold my entire backpack. I suppose I could live with smaller lockers that couild hold my smaller valuables with the backpack chained to the bed. So does anyone have any hostels in mind in: Paris, Amsterdam, Florence, Venice and Rome with big lockers?
Thanks, David

At the Flying Pig downtown there were lockers under each bed that you had to lock, but I had a pretty expensive backpack and stuff and I never worried about it. I think there's a general coalition of backpackers in hostels to not touch eachother's shit. So I would leave mine on my room all day for the most part, and keep the more valuable stuff with me ( ie my camera ). But a lot of the hostels I went to there were rooms that you would put your stuff in and it would be locked all day and could only be locked with the key from the desk.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I never once met someone who had there stuff stolen at a hostel...

i'm with glitter, it's like an unspoken rule for one backpacker to not touch anothers stuff. i know i've never had a problem with it... i mean don't take lots of valuable stuff and show it off. i kept my camera and money under my pillow while i slept and on me any other time. most of the stuff i had with me i could live without if i lost it. i also planned some extra cash is something did happen to my stuff.

It pretty much is an unspoken rule, but seeing that you have 3 Italian cities on your itinerary, I'll relate to you that every story I've heard of stuff being stolen from a room has been from Italy - especially Rome. Just a heads-up... You could always get one of those PacSafe backpack lockdown net thingies if you're really worried. Personally, if there isn't a locker, I leave most of my stuff out. But then, most people take one look at me and realize that I might go all Hong Kong Fooey on their asses.
