reading some other BP'er sites they say they would stay in hostels for 3-7 a night, however when i look on line the average seems to be more like 19-25 a night. Am i just looking in the wrong places? The first few nights in London i'll pay what i have to but upon leaving London for Spain, Germany, etc. I'd like to lower the costs a bit....Also, what problems can i expect with the language barrierts when looking for hostels in spain and Germany (i speak very little german, offen sie das fenster....I think i just asked someone to open a window!) thanks for any help!

anything on the internet (in my experiance) is going to be a lot more expensive unless you go there in person. you can always find a cheaper place to stay just by walking around for a bit. dont worry, if you really try you can streach your money quite far.

Hey clevercraig! I was just in Europe this past Fall-Winter. The hostel prices ranged from 7-30. These were extreme ends and really the exception. But most hostels really ranged from 12.5 to 25...

thanx Carisia and J. It's calming to have an estimate. While the spontainaity and unknown are half the fun of what I am about to do it is nice to have an idea of how much you need to budget. This site is awsome. thanks for your help.
