Okay, I apologize out front because I'm sure you've all had to answer to similar threads before. I tried using the search engine, but I can't find it.. (probably due to the early AM hour and drinks, but anyway).

I'm flying into Paris on the 21st of June and am only now looking at booking a hostel online, hopefully for three nights, maybe more.
Anyways, it seems that booking a Paris hostel this late is a hard thing to do!

BUT, using both the engine through TP, and through hostelparis.com, to my luck I seem to have found Square Caulaincourt available for all three nights (25e/night)
But, once I press the 'book now' button, TP comes back with a message telling me they can't find space, and hostelparis.com just stalls!

Which makes me question the reliability of online booking altogether! So what gives? Which hostel search engine can I trust?

Or maybe, besides TP/Hostelworld, what are some good engines out there to cross check?

Thanx!

THis probably won't relate to your question but I had the same problem when I tried to book with that hostel for July 9-13. It also said it was available, but when I went to book it the first night was the only one I could get. I dont think it's the hostel engines, it might just be that particular hostel. I ended up booking a hostel called Stadium Hotel in Paris for 3 nights.

I don't know if that help you in any way.

Sorry no one got back to this sooner! I was out of town. Anyhow, I tried and had no problem - I got to the point where I could enter my CC information. Perhaps it's something on your end. Maybe try deleting your cookies?

The hostel booking engine has been really reliable. I know I posted an issue, but that was on the hostel's end, not the engine.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Well, it still doesn't seem to work for me. Deleted cookies and rebooted, and still don't get anywhere. I might try to call once I'm there, but I have a feeling they'll be booked.

At this point it looks like I might be coach surfing for the first two days, then staying at this Stadium Hotel... same as Tuge (I'll try and tell you how it is!)

Yeah! I'm going to be there July 9th. It'd be great to hear how the hostel was.

If you need accomodations, I always stayed at Hotel du Loiret, which is about 25-40 euro a night for your own room, and bonus is that it is in the 4th district, right by the latin quarter and at the hotel de ville metro stop on the 5th line. It's not on the internet so just call when you get there or go in.

It's info is:
8 rue de mauvais garcons
paris 75004
01 48 87 77 00

Take a right out of the stop and keep walking, it will be on the corner about 7 minutes walk on the left. It's right across for Hotel de Ville, and they speak some english which makes your life a little easier. If you do go there check out the Lizard Lounge, same area, great english bar, and cheap beer (www.cheapblonde.com). It was mine and my friends fav paris hangout.

Good luck!
