Hey,
I'm planning on going to Barcelona for a while, i have my ticket and all. I was just wondering if any of you have worked in Spain in general without a visa and what kind of jobs you had. Is it that bad to working without a working visa? what the worse that can happen. I;m from Canada and i know you need some sort of Number to to able to work there. Let me know! Thanks, Eric |
You could try working in a hostel for room/board. :) Beyond that, there are wo words that will be your friend(s): Hospitality Industry. Bars and restaurants are likely to hire under-the-table workers if you have any type of kitchen or possibly serving/bartending experience. The worst that could happen is that you end up deported, but that's pretty bloody unlikely in the restaurant industry. I'm not sure exactly how easy it will be to get a position-- keep in mind that during spring/summer/fall there's a major influx of tourists and the unofficial job market will be more competitive.

Go to TravelBar in the middle of the old town and look at the job posting board. There are plenty of cash-in-hand opportunities posted there. Also, talk to the bartenders there, all of whom are travelers and who know the ins and outs of working and living in Barca.
