I have spent nearly 5 years travelling the world and have learned a lot of things so i felt obligated to share with you a story that just happened to me recently. To help people so this does not happen to them.

Recently in Brugge Belgium i stayed at a backpackers called Charlie Rockets. Being that i was working in Normandy France and didn't have a bank account i had to travel with all my money. Walking around with 2000 euro is just not cool as it makes you a target.

After having a few beers in the bar after meeting some cool Americans i decided to go to sleep. Upon arriving back i found some spanish and mexican people staying in my room after trying to talk to them in my limitted amount to Spanish and their limitted amount of English i went to sleep. With my wallet still in my pants beside me on the floor.

Upon waking up i found my money was all gone except for the emergency money i hide in other parts of my luggage. which left me up shit creek once again.

So morale of the story and i know it is hard to do especially after travelling for soo long is to keep your valubles on you at all time

Hopefully my bad experience will help someone else on these boards as these boards are designed to help fellow travellers out.

Wow, too bad. Thanks for the reminder that when you're on the road, you gotta think double time!

My bro just got ''drugged and mugged'' on the moscow metro (chloroform.....the utter swines!) and had 150 dollars knicked. Not quite in the same league as what you lost danny but the moral of the tale is the same.....

damn bro that sucks. I always sleep with my money belt on when hosteling. Its not very comfortable but beats losing my passport, cards, and money. And I only do this if there is no lockers around...

((( Morphisis by Die From ))) :greenguy:

Dude that sucks big time.
Once I got robbed, but it was funny I was looking for it thou, they took my mobile (at that time) and my wallet (yeah School I.D and money) not much cause I was like 16 and stuff so it wasn't a biggie I actually started to talk to them while they were saying " No me mires- voltea la cara que te mato" = "Don't look at me- turn your face, that I'm gonna kill you" they were mad coked up, I actually started talking to them and told them who some of my friends were they kinda got scared and finished up giving me my papers and my keys, they said I was Sympathic. Then after that I stayed at a hill around 50 friends of mine went loloking for me, needless to say I went drinking with my friends and got home at like 4 a.m, oh yeah I got robbed like at 10 p.m. it was a fun night thou. you have to laugh about it, what else can you do? It's just money, atleast you still have your life and can make that money up, so don't worry.
