Letís be clear! Smoking is a dangerous and self-destructive habit. Various poisons contained within tobacco smoke cause or contribute to cancer of the mouth and lungs, heart problems, emphysema, gum disease and a variety of other physical diseases.
Smoking has been linked directly to sexual dysfunction in men, and it's believed to have a similar effect in women. One noted urologist, speaking on the news program 60 Minutes, said when he sees a man smoking, he wonders when -- not if -- he will experience erectile dysfunction.
A smokerís risk of heart attack is more than twice that of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking is the biggest risk factor for sudden cardiac death -- smokers are looking at two to four times the risk of nonsmokers. Studies have shown that cigarette smoking is also an important risk factor for stroke. The evidence also indicates that chronic exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (secondhand smoke, passive smoking) may increase the risk of heart disease.
Most smokers sincerely want to quit. They know cigarettes threaten their health, set a bad example for their children, annoy their acquaintances and cost an inordinate amount of money.
Nobody can force a smoker to quit. It's something each person has to decide for himself., Sometimes the cigarette is used as a tranquilizer.. Once a smoker understands his own smoking behavior, he will be able to cope more successfully and select the best quitting approaches for himself and the type of life-style he leads.
Quitting is hard, but don't give up!
Quit smoking Now! For better Life,,!!!
if you can try you can imagine your life bring back the same on the days that you did not smoke that as healthy as you are.. Think about your health, your future!

Interesting post...I am a researcher in cardiovascular disease and so I must confirm this. There are 9 major contributing factors to acute cardiovascular disease, and smoking is the largest "preventable" risk factor (and the second largest overall risk factor). It is directly responsible for over 1/3 of all acute cardiovascular events (heart attacks) in the world...that is a ridiculously high number !

That being said, if you are currently a smoker (I am, and I know how hard it is to quit): if you quit before you are 30 years old, your risk of having a heart attack falls to the level of a non-smoker very quickly.

Non-smoking rhetoric often sounds preachy...not sure how to avoid this. Sorry all .

Cheers,
Craig

I am about to turn thirty so I have started telling myself this:

If I smoke, I am not respecting myself...so then how can I expect anyone else to respect me?

Pretty simple really. Plus I just decided that I'd rather live than die. In the end, it all comes down to that.

Sorry for sounding so preachy but I only have a few months left in my 20's so I'd better get this right now...

Well, according to another thread, the world is ending in 2012, so smoke 'em if you got 'em, folks.
