When I was in Paris, i was ripped of by people selling things on those carts in the street, i bought 3 postcards and it ended up costing me like 15 CDN, i was really pissed off because i did not catch it until i was gone from the cart. Keep an eye on these dodghy buggers, and make sure the price for the card is what they are charging you.

And Keep an eye out around tourist attraction for hustlers trying to sell you crap, they can be aggresive sometimes , more when i comes to women i noticed and the police did not seem to care.

There are bathrooms outside of some attrations and you have to pay to use them, so make sure you have you change because the people who staff them i found can be very rude and do not care if you "REALLY HAVE TO GO"

Please do not think that I am bashing France, but here is another thing to watch out for...Taxi Cabs are nutorious for over charging, they will take you on the longest route possible to your destination causing the metre to go up & up & up ...to avoid this, make sure you know the distance you will be traveling, and the best route to get there, just to be on the safe side plan your trip before you go! ask a hostel employee how much or how far your destination should be, so you have something to go on.

( This could happen in almost any country, so just be aware)

France, Italy, and Spain are home to millions of pick pocketers! Iīve seen them at work and itīs disgusting.

I yelled at a couple across the street when the lady didnīt realize the trail of 5 or 6 romanians (follow the leader style) opening her purse as she was just caually walking down the street with her husband. Her little purse was hanging from her right shoulder (between her arm and body) and the head gypsy had diligently followed her stride unnoticably(her groupies following behind her and watching) while slowly unzipping her purse. I saw it, yelled at the top of my lungs to the couple(knew they were American) and as she turned she cradled her purse and the gypsies, strangely started cursing me and shouting at me, so I shouted back some Spanish obsenities. In other countries the pickpocketers/thieves run for cover! These gypsies donīt give a crap, they just out in the open look for another victim.
The couple was grateful and saved from a traveling too-close-to-call nightmarish episode- TPUNK STYLE!

Paris doesn't sound like the nicest place in the world to me, and I certainly don't think it's a proper reflection of the rest of France.

Doesn't the rumour that French waiters are rude hail from Paris? Because wherever else I've been in the country they are positively lovely.

However, I suppose in reality Paris isn't really that different from any other capital city. London is expensive, overpopulated, ridden with crime and often rude also. I guess it comes with the territory of capital cities...
