I just heard from a British guy that if you go to a drug store (pharmacy) in England (or maybe other countries as well) and ask for a set of traveler's needles they give you, in a sealed sterile package:
A sewing needle for stitches
and a few syringe (spelling?) needles for shots and whatnot.
The idea being you are going to a country where you are not sure if the needles are clean or not. You insist on using the ones you give. I think it is a great idea and plan on buying maybe 5 packs in England and send a few home.
Thought I'd share.

good call foo. a buddy of mine was in a pretty remote part of peru and forced to use the needles provided by the military nurse when getting a yellow fever shot. i'm sure if had the option existed he (and most everyone) would go for the traveler's pack.

hey foo they sell them in other countries as well I know for a fact that you can get them in the states and I would assume that you can get them in Oz, Canadia and NZ as well.
But thanks for the tip and remember to back them in your checked on luggage

does the kit include a spoon and cotton or do i have to bring my own?

I am not sure I will post my results once i am in London (about 3 weeks) and buy it myself from Boots. Pretty sure you will need your own cotton.
